When should the high-water (HW) alarm activate?

The high-water (HW) alarm is designed to activate when the water level in a septic system rises to a point that indicates a potential malfunction or overflow risk. This is typically set to trigger just above the pump's turn-on level, ensuring that there is ample warning before the water reaches a critical threshold. Activating the alarm 2 or 3 inches above the pump turn-on level allows for early detection of issues such as pump failure or blockages that could lead to the water level rising to an undesirable state.

By setting the HW alarm at this point, it gives both the homeowner and the service personnel the opportunity to take corrective action before the system is overwhelmed, protecting the environment and maintaining system integrity.
